Focus sessions with timed breaks

Work in fixed stretches with a break after each one, and a longer break every fourth session. The countdown is anchored to the system clock, so it stays accurate while the tab sits in the background.

The method

Pick one task, work on it for a single focus session without switching, then take the short break. After four focus sessions, take the long break instead.

The chime only sounds while this tab is open. Browsers may block audio until you have interacted with the page.

Frequently asked questions

Which preset should I pick?

There is no scientifically optimal interval. The 25-minute default came from Cirillo's kitchen timer, and 52/17 came from one app's usage data. Short presets help you start tasks you are avoiding; longer ones suit work you sink into. Pick whatever you will actually run, and change it freely.

Does the timer keep counting if I switch tabs?

Yes. The countdown is anchored to the system clock rather than a ticking interval, so backgrounding the tab does not drift it. The chime and notification fire when the tab is still open.

How do sessions get counted against a task?

Link a task in the Task card, or arrive here from the task manager's play button. Every completed focus session adds one to that task and lands in the session history.

Why did my session not count?

Only sessions that run to the end of a focus phase count. Skipping a phase or resetting the timer records nothing, on purpose.
