What is Good Friday?
Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Sunday, marking the crucifixion. Because it is tied to Easter it moves each year between 20 March and 23 April. It is a public holiday in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Germany, Brazil and much of the Christian world, though not a federal holiday in the United States, where a minority of states close offices. This countdown works it out by computing Easter for the year and subtracting two days.
The next one falls on Friday, 26 March 2027, and this page counts down to the midnight that starts it in whatever time zone your browser reports. For a date of your own, the deadline countdown takes any target and tracks progress against it.
